One
of the best ways to teach your child science in the early years is through
nature studies. Below are a couple of articles I wrote for Eclectic
Homeschool Online about nature studies. To read these articles, please

Living on a farm has its rewards. Whenever I want to study science with
my sons, I am able to step out of my back door and listen to the frogs
croaking in the creek or to the wolves howl at the moon. In the morning,
I am able to observe many different species of birds flying overhead;
at night, I can see a myriad of stars in the night sky, which isn’t
fouled by city light pollution.
With spring right around the corner and the weather warming up from
a frosty cold to a more tolerable tepid, now's the time to take your
children out for a nature walk. Enjoying nature can bring out the best
of the five senses; most of all touch and taste. Children who learn
kinesthetically will certainly appreciate the hands-on techniques that
can be employed in learning about nature.
Jeannie
Fulbright's Exploring Creation with Botany is a wonderful excursion
into the life of plants and the world God made, and is the perfect introduction
to science for elementary-aged children. So are her other books, Exploring
Creation with Astronomy and the soon-to-be-released Exploring Creation
with Zoology.
